Celebrating Georgia STEM Day

Celebrating Georgia STEM Day and 1 Million Students!

May 6, 2016

Today is a big day for Georgia Aquarium. Not only are we welcoming thousands of students and educators through our doors to celebrate Georgia STEM Day in collaboration with TAG Education, but we are also commemorating our milestone of one million students educated since 2005.

The Aquarium was initially designed to house millions of gallons of water and thousands of species of animals, and when we first opened, 25% of its footprint was dedicated to educational programming. Over the past 10 years, we have been fortunate to expand our educational programs both at the Aquarium and out in the community, helping students experience the wonders of the aquatic world.

As we celebrate Georgia STEM Day today, a state-wide event is an engaging and interactive day for schools and companies to raise awareness and participate in activities that involve science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), we are also reflecting on the past decade of educating 1 million students at the Aquarium.

So, what does a decade of educational progress and aquatic inspiration look like?
