Last week, we joined educators across the state in celebrating Georgia STEM Day in collaboration with TAG-Ed. Georgia STEM Day is an event to raise awareness and encourage activities involving science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). We were able to welcome over 3,000 students to this celebration to participate in STEM-related activities, enabling us to showcase the huge range of STEM careers at Georgia Aquarium.
Along with this state-wide event, Georgia Aquarium commemorated our milestone of one million students served since 2005! Thanks to our continuously expanding education programs, we have been able to inspire thousands of students each year and introduce them to the wonders of the ocean and marine life.
To further highlight the variety of career paths at Georgia Aquarium, we also launched our STEAM Forward video series last week. Made in collaboration with our partner, Georgia-Pacific, this free online video series will serve as an educational resource for teachers within their classrooms. The first episodes of STEAM Forward take viewers on a behind-the-scenes exploration of the Aquarium and how our exhibits operate on a daily basis. These episodes are available online for free, and future episodes will follow in August of this year.
